Could You Use a Financial Break?

You’re struggling with health problems. You can’t work anymore. Now you’re worried about how you’ll support yourself and your family.

You just need a little help to get through this difficult time.
Help is here: Social Security Disability benefits.

These benefits were created for the express purpose of keeping you going when major health problems rule out working.

Social Security Disability provides income—it could be $100s or over $1,000 a month—to help you pay your bills. When you qualify for benefits, you also qualify for health-care coverage though Medicare or Medicaid.

It’s a shame that Social Security denies most people who apply.

Help is here for that, too: Geary Disability Law.

Tim Geary is a disability attorney leading a deeply experienced legal team that can guide you in filling out forms, help you gather evidence, and keep you on track in the process of winning Social Security Disability benefits.

In the Fox Valley and Northeast Wisconsin, let us help you move on to the next chapter in your life.

What Can You Get with Social Security Disability in Wisconsin?

When you can’t work because of medical impairments, you could qualify for one of two disability benefits programs run by the Social Security Administration (SSA), depending on your work and income history:

    • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI): This benefit pays monthly checks. On average, people get more than $1,000. The SSA calculates the amount in part using your income history. You qualify for SSDI after working and paying Social Security taxes. This is not a government handout. It’s insurance. You paid for it, and you’re entitled to receive it when you need it. SSDI also qualifies you for Medicare, even when you aren’t retirement age yet.
    • Supplemental Security Income (SSI): You also get monthly checks with this benefit, but it’s a flat amount pre-set by the government, not based on your past income. The amount changes every year. For 2021, it was set at $794 for an individual. SSI could be for you if you haven’t worked much in a long time. You qualify based on your income and financial resources, not by recently working and paying taxes. Qualifying for SSI also qualifies you for Medicaid health coverage.

You can get Disability Lawyer Tim Geary and Geary Disability Law to take a look at your situation and let you know if you have a strong claim for benefits, along with which type of benefit is right for you.

It costs you nothing for an initial consultation on your case.

Do I Qualify for Social Security Disability?

People often ask us whether they have a good chance of winning Social Security Disability benefits.

If you’re wondering that, too, consider these requirements for disability benefits:

    • You must have severe health problems.
    • Your health problems must leave you unable to work.
    • You must be unable to work in past jobs or any other job.
    • You’ve stopped working a substantial amount already.
    • Your condition has lasted, or will last, at least one year.
    • For SSDI, you’ve paid enough into the system.
    • For SSI, your income and assets fall under certain limits.

Social Security has a list of medical impairments that can qualify you for benefits, but you can win benefits with many different physical and mental health conditions.

The key is that your health must be hindering your ability to function.

And you can’t just tell that to Social Security. You have to prove it using evidence and arguments.
